Picture Post: You never know what big news will come from the Annual Meeting of the Membership at The Portland Japanese Garden, and Steve Bloom, the garden’s CEO, announcing his retirement after 20 years was huge.

While I’ve only been a member since 2016, having gone through some of the garden’s best times and worst times, Steve has absolutely been a key part in making the garden in to what it is today: one of the most important cultural assets in the world. The garden will miss you, Steve, but you’ve more than earned your retirement. Best of luck on your next project: renovating one of Japan’s many akiya.
