Photo of pierogis (or вареники (varenyky) in Ukranian) on a plate.

Picture Post: You probably know these as pierogies, but I grew up knowing them by their Ukrainian name, вареники (varenyky). My grandmother would make them from scratch when she would come to visit us. She passed when I was very young, and I never got to ask her for her recipe (or really anything; I was around six at the time.) I suspect if she even had one written anywhere, it likely would have been entirely in Ukrainian. Anyway, get stuffed, Putin.
